Thematic Background
Inhumane statements devalue individuals or groups. Such attacks can occur on- and offline, and target characteristics such as skin colour, (presumed) origin, sexuality, gender, age, physical and mental condition, and religion. These devaluations are based on the assumption that certain groups of people are worth less than others. This may include denial of equal rights - in the worst case, the right to live. As a communications expert and trainer, I provide context and orientation on such malign concepts, inform about underlying intentions of bad actors and transfer knowledge to support the development of counter strategies and tools for mitigation.
Mission Statement
Objective journalism, based on solid research and taking ethical standards into account, is part of my self-understanding of the profession.
Though journalism - or better: media outlets - today are in a severe crisis: The vast amount of information online and changing news consumption via social media are more than challenging. For media, this means shrinking revenue, and also erosion in trust for the services, as not all information providers adhere to journalistic standards and ethics. Editorial teams are under pressure, and sometimes forced to react. Keyword: shitstorm!
I am passionate about this topic because, as a journalist, researcher and activist for human rights, I have experienced how mis- and disinformation, hate speech online, political re-framing erode social cohesion and democracy.
My offer:
Equipping you with the necessary information, knowledge, methods and activities for handling the challenges of the digital disruption with confidence.
